In addition to my anatomical-based research, I am also interested in how 3D technology and computer modeling can be used in anatomical education. Along these lines, I’m working with a third year DO-student on a project where we slice digital models of the heart into standard ultrasound views, and 3D print the resultant models. Students can then use the 3D-printed hearts models to gain better spatial understanding of the 2D ultrasound image. These models were incorporated into the Summer 2018 PA gross course, with great success!
