With R Zac Selden and Kersten Bergstrom, I recently visited the Kulubnarti collection, housed at the Department of Anthropology at the University of Colorado Boulder. There we had the opportunity to discuss the history of this wonderful collection with Dr. Dennis van Gerven. We were also granted permission to surface- and CT-scan several of the modern and Mesolithic crania from Nubia. These scans, along with other data, will be utilized in several projects to understand how craniofacial variation has evolved in East Africa. Using different scanning techniques also allows us to directly compare and contrast the reliability of results obtained from of several 3D methods.
